You can sum up La Dolce Via in three words: sweet, casual and hip. Sweet, in this case, doesn't mean kitschy-cute---it refers to the high-quality baked goods that owner Marcia Sindel and her daughter have been preparing for many years. Casual and hip are easier to identify. The updated décor includes eclectic table-chair sets and bookshelves, and the inviting children's play area (and kitchen, naturally) is likewise improved. The typical dinner menu is fairly brief: three choices, two meat and one vegetarian. What it lacks in breadth it makes up for in quality, and frequent customers know that dinner reservations are a very good idea. In the mornings, juices are fresh-squeezed and the coffee is topnotch. Weekend brunch is especially appealing, with blueberry pancakes to brag about and a unique version of biscuits and gravy: cheese scones topped by gravy made with locally sourced lamb.
