The Washington Avenue district Lukas Park Grille calls home is a thriving nightlife destination, thanks in no small measure to LPG itself. Its success at balancing a quality restaurant with a see-and-be-seen bar draws all types of customers. Therefore, it's gradually settled into its rightful place amidst other, newer bars and restaurants; some patrons start their night here with a small-plates feast, while others end up here after first hopping through a few other bars. The interior is glamorous, almost theatrical, yet it's comfortable, too, with plasma TVs and eclectic lighting paired somewhat incongruously with stone fireplaces and cozy nooks. The menu has hopped around a bit, from classic to trendy and back again. There's American Kobe beef, in mini-burgers as a reasonably priced appetizer (or small plate, in the menu's terminology), as well as other local favorites like lobster mac 'n' cheese and Missouri mushroom risotto. In typical steakhouse fashion, the above-average sides are served à la carte. The good wine list is mostly for the dinner crowd; afterward, cocktails and bottled beer are the drinks of choice.
