Broadway Oyster Bar Description:
You can't fake atmosphere like this. In a building that dates to the 1820s, there's a fireplace, a drafty door and vigorously uneven floors. The side patio is in the oeuvre of the House of Blues. Still, the kitchen puts out food that will satiate that itch to head for New Orleans. The shuckers claim they go through 500 oysters a night, and we believe them after seeing countless customers chow down on oysters Rockefeller. Buckets of crawfish, oyster po' boys, red beans and rice, jambalaya and so on are all available, but more modern dishes---even an alligator-tail Philly sandwich---also appear on the menu. Bread pudding varies in success depending on who's making it, so be sure to watch for sweet potato-pecan pie. Expect to hear lots of blues, as this is one of three neighboring clubs that together spearhead the city's blues scene.
