Gian-Tony's Description:
Many of the city's most knowledgeable eaters find their way to this nondescript building where, as it turns out, all the charm is on the inside. Less formal than The Hill's big-name Italian spots, Gian-Tony's serves up traditional Sicilian cuisine with a particularly deft touch. This is big-flavor stuff, from simple seafood ravioli to eggplant involtini filled with spinach and ricotta to the house specialty, tiramisu. Osso buco, a frequent special, is good enough to cause arm-wrestling matches between patrons pursuing the night's last serving of it. Tony Catarinicchia's food feels like what Nonna would make (and not a designer interpretation of it); in season, he even grows his own vegetables and herbs in a plot out back. Service comes from waiters who know both the menu and their longtime neighborhood customers. On weekends, reservations are all but mandatory.
