You'll feel just like you're in Italy. Well, sort of. The portions are huge, overflowing right onto the table---the food is meant for sharing, even the smaller menu for couples feeds a few more than two. It's all generous, boisterous and crowd appealing. Frank Sinatra plays over the sound system, black-and-white photos of JFK adorn the walls and the tables are all covered with red-and-white checked cloths. Our choice is the chicken Marsala with its wine-sweetened mushrooms and tender chicken along with the garlic mashed potatoes. Or sample the lasagna---a nine-layer extravaganza loaded with homemade meat sauce and cheeses. Plate-size rounds of garlic bread are always crispy on the outside and good and garlicky soft in the center. The red sauce is a little sweet for our liking, and the meatball (as big as a softball) always sounds better on the menu than it tastes. But everybody knows that dining at Buca is really about the experience, not the cuisine. Other locations.
