Wah Kee Chinese Seafood Description:
Wah Kee, Chinese with a seafood slant, built its rep on the likes of scary stuff like spicy jellyfish, but the menu offers other exotica such as shrimp in buttermilk sauce and several salt-toasted shellfish with fragrant Szechuan peppercorns. And if spicy beef tripe is to be had, leap on it: bathed in soy, sesame oil, scallions and red pepper flakes, the crunchy ribbons are remarkable. (Beef tripe with pickle vegetable is a suitable substitute.) The fish tank that once dominated the rear of the pastel-toned and wood-trimmed restaurant appears to have gone on strike, but the whole steamed fish with scallion and ginger may still be worth consideration. In season, we suggest the sautéed snow pea leaves with garlic as an accessory to just about anything.
