China Latina Description:
The restaurant's co-founder, Chinese with a Latin connection, has departed, leaving the now-baffling name in her wake. Mainline Chinese makes up the menu, with dishes such as crispy orange-flavored beef and Volcano chicken "sautéed with a combination of spicy hot sauces" typifying the offerings. No Mexican mixed with Mandarin, alas---except, perhaps in the colorful décor. Ignore the appetizer sampler for two; it contains all the least interesting starters. Look instead to the chicken lettuce package. And don't be deceived by anything "flamingly sautéed in Special Hot Sauce." But the sautéed lamb Hunan style served over spinach has considerable charm. Yet much of the restaurant's real appeal lies in its sushi bar, an add-on that has become a destination in its own right. Start with a seaweed or squid salad, then move on to a Triple Sushi Deluxe Dinner; it offers a good cross-section of the available options. We also give the sushi bar points for not freighting down the rolls with foolish names; Spicy Girl Roll is about as silly as it gets.
