India Palace Description:
If it weren't for the fact that much Indian food seems to hold well over steam, we'd be just as happy to see buffets banished; they're often nothing more than an all-you-can-eat exercise in gluttony. Nevertheless, India Palace's siren song of steam and samosas manages to seduce diners at all hours. (The quasi-lethal cilantro and mint chutney salves a multitude of sins.) Straight from the kitchen, flaky fish tandoori, served sizzling and spitting on a cast iron platter, flaunts its yogurt-and-spice crust. The tandoor oven also produces lamb tika kebab and the classic, yogurt- and spice-marinated chicken. Saucy lamb vindaloo is strictly for initiates. For the more cautious palate, consider chicken korma with its mellow blend of cream, cashews, pistachios, raisins and dried cherries. A dish of frozen mango malwa ties up a meal nicely. Avoid the pallid pistachio ice cream, however.
