The original, legendary Lee's in the New Orleans Central Business District spawned a number of offspring, with diverse ownerships. Some of the suburban locations are so basic, the tables and chairs become frills, and cheesy describes the décor more fittingly than the sandwiches. But fans who remember the original come for the slow-fried patties that are still embedded with chopped onions that caramelize as the meat cooks. The beef for these nostalgia bites is still ground daily, and Lee's present-day fans would hardly let a week go by without stopping in for a fix.
