Long Ridge Tavern Description:
Cozy, comfortable and classic, Long Ridge Tavern hearkens back to colonial times when diners sat in Quaker-style chairs and breathed in the fresh air of the surrounding woods. Old-timers will remember this rural charmer as The Country Kitchen, which a couple of decades ago was one of the area's most popular family restaurants. After a number of changes in owners and names, the restaurant emerged as Long Ridge Tavern. Today, it's more tavern than either kitchen or country and a favorite after-work watering hole for corporate types who stop in on their way home to New York State, which is just up the hill. In keeping with the restaurant's setting, the menu was once traditional American, but it has evolved to include more continental flavors. For a classic dish, try the roasted half duck with a wild berry and Grand Marnier sauce served with wild rice and vegetables that goes equally well with a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon or a robust ale.
