Champions Sports Bar Description:
This is the rowdy side of the Tampa Marriott Waterside. It's a fairly typical sports bar, but with good food. The staff is also friendly and pays attention. The walls are adorned with the usual memorabilia and photos. There are tables plus a few pseudo-ringside seats facing a giant TV screen. The food comes with cutesy names like Bullpen Buffalo Wings, First Base Sliders (four mini cheeseburgers served with soy ketchup) and Slam Dunk Dip (Champions' signature dip of chopped spinach, Parmesan and melted jack cheeses, served with tortilla chips). There are also soups, salads and sandwiches (Fight Night Philly cheesesteak and a disappointing Curve Ball Cuban sandwich lacking the rich variety of tastes of a true Cuban). Mozzarella sticks and chicken fingers, of course. The desserts are also creative; the Babe Ruth sundae is topped with a Baby Ruth candy bar.
