Aquarium Description:
The fish in the huge tanks are not for dinner. In fact, several times a day divers feed the sea creatures in the titular aquarium. This restaurant was planned as the jewel of the Kemah Boardwalk, said boardwalk having been constructed as an accompaniment to the half-dozen Landry family restaurants comprising this seaside food and shopping theme park. Crab shack and cantina are the themes of some of the other eateries, but this is more upscale. Appetizers, for instance, include traditional shrimp cocktail and oysters on the half-shell as well as Asian-inspired chicken lettuce wraps and crab wontons. The menu hope to be eclectic, but is more random. But even oddities such as a shrimp tortilla club sandwich are well executed so you'll be safe ordering almost anything, such as fish, a jumbo shrimp dish (there are so many shrimp dishes on the menu that they have their own page), any of the massive platters or an ordinary eight-ounce burger. Staid seafood such as blackened redfish and stuffed flounder, as well as fresher fish ideas such as a sautéed red snapper served with crab-avocado pico de gallo are even a bit better than they have to be. Crowds line up for the Kemah Boardwalk experience, including the chance of having decent food in a kid-friendly environment-and the Aquarium adds fine food, a cool, almost museum-like dining environment and live sharks.
