This charming spot deftly turns out authentic classic French cuisine in a rustic dining room with an open kitchen, stone fireplace, bright awnings and handmade clay dolls (called santon) from Provence. The menu, which changes seasonally, typically includes delicious French onion soup and entrées such as rack of lamb with herbes de Provence and an expertly prepared steak au poivre. The kitchen happily accommodates special requests for favorite dishes (such as bouillabaisse) when they are not on the menu as long as the necessary ingredients are on hand or if you call a day or two in advance. The half-dozen or so daily specials are listed on a small blackboard that servers bring to each table.
