Bangrak Thai Cuisine Description:
It's sleek, smart and sophisticated, but resembles nothing faintly Thai. Absent the traditional décor, you might think you've slipped into a modern American pub. Even the menu has been shaped to appeal to Western palates, with its limited range of dishes---actually, most are some of the standards you'll find elsewhere. But at least the kitchen makes an effort to shine with one or two offbeat offerings, such as the so-called herbal wrap, a traditional dish that calls for wrapping assorted bits of ingredients (peanuts, chilies, shredded coconut and more) in a collard or cabbage leaf and drizzling it with a sweet tamarind sauce. Where the kitchen falters is in what we think is a circumscribed use of seasonings, which blunt the traditional flavors. And why the name "tilapia Three Musketeers," which denotes absolutely nothing? Best bets may be the noodle dishes: both the pad thai and the pad z-ew are authentically seasoned.
