San Vito Italian Restaurant Description:
Despite its flurry of press coverage, San Vito in Franklin Farms is not the showcase of fine Italian dining as we thought. Instead, it's really a comfy Italian-American destination with a menu clogged with pastas, pizzas, sandwiches, calzones, and a few chicken, veal, and fish main courses. Eyeing the possibilities of calamari fritti, pollo alla Parmigiana, and scallopini piccata, we opted instead for the calzone diavolo, a doughy calzone overflowing with sausage, cheese and artichoke hearts drenched in tomato sauce. True, this is not meant to be haute Northern Italian fare, but it really misses the mark in replicating real lusty southern Italian cooking.
