Bosphorous Turkish Cusine Description:
Bosphorous sits in the middle of busy Park Avenue, a quiet oasis with white linen tablecloths and a handful of tables on the sidewalk with fans whirring overhead to keep diners cool when Florida heats up. Service is often slow and confused, but the authentic Turkish cuisine is worth your wait. Start with the shepherd salad, a bowl of chopped cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, red onion and parsley tossed with olive oil and vinegar; or a dollop of baba ghanouj or hummus on the warm flatbread. The menu is extensive, so choose chicken, lamb or seafood, and build a dinner from there. If you want exotic tastes, try the kofte kebap, minced lamb and beef patties with onions, garlic, parsley and spice, served with rice. A more straightforward option would be the grilled salmon with lemon and onion. We can make a meal of the appetizers: tabbouleh; stuffed mussels with rice, onions, pine nuts, black currant and herbs (weekends only); red caviar spread with olive oil and lemon; and stuffed grape leaves. If you've overeaten, share a baklava or get it to go---the dense, sweet pastry is worth the calories.
