Kosher Cajun Deli & Grocery Description:
Manhattan and Metairie may not have much in common, but at the latter there is at least one modest outpost of the former's famous Jewish delis. Kosher Cajun's matzoh ball soup would remind a New Yorker of home and while its J&N Special, a sandwich with hot corned beef and pastrami on rye with mustard, horseradish and coleslaw, may court overkill, it will still do fine in an emergency. Dr. Brown's sodas, almost a dozen of them, are the beverages of choice. The cheesecake is the real deal, imported from the Big Apple. The spacious and spotless surroundings along a large glass wall overlook a parking lot full of SUVs and minivans. This deli probably won't bowl over connoisseurs of Reubens and chopped liver, but it offers reasonably safe haven in a suburban jungle of rubber chicken and hamburgers.
