Chaba Thai Bay Grill Description:
While the South Bay has many good Thai restaurants, few are outstanding for either depth of regional cuisine or culinary invention. Chaba Thai Bay Grill is a standout for the latter, highlighted by the fried calamari dusted with green tea powder, and Thai-style osso buco---here called lamb shank Musman---paired with a delicate yellow curry, turmeric rice and Thai pickles. The restaurant occasionally gets a bit fanciful with its menu descriptions: the Thai bouillabaisse is a pretty standard though very good lemon grass and chile broth with seafood. More traditional dishes, like noodle stir-fries and eggplant with shrimp and basil, are available and similarly satisfying. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and offers a decent wine list, both factors that draw a young crowd that grooves to hip alt-rock.
