Located in a strip mall on Wilson Boulevard, Ray's offers well-aged steaks at affordable prices, and trims away all the fripperies that downtown steakhouses employ, all of which drive up their prices to sky-high tabs. Not at Ray's where steak---and not much else---is king. Its bare-bones décor, lack of stuffy service and impressive wine list underscore what a find this steakhouse is. We recommend the Black and Blue New Yorker (translation: pepper-coated steak with blue cheese sauce), rank the abundant Caesar salad A-plus, and sigh over the chocolate mousse. Desserts usually include a fruit composition and something more decadent. Ray's makes an impression in a city where most folks crave a good meal in a casual setting at prices that don't kill the budget.
