Tavern on Main Description:
Bar, also know as Rick's, street parking is difficult, so head to the metered lots west of Main off Ashland Boulevard.
Although Santa Monica’s busy Main Street suffers from no lack of nosheries and cafés, one of the better options is Rick’s Tavern, a fine-looking alehouse that serves revisionist Americana in pleasant surroundings. The 1930s-era grill décor features a long bar---a nice place to enjoy one of the 50 beers, from Irish Guinness to Dutch pilsners---tiled floors and lots of dark wood. There’s also a charming outdoor patio, especially nice for lunch. What’s to eat? Generous sandwiches on French rolls, meatloaf, burgers and chile, along with terrific waffle-cut french fries. Tip: The best night to visit Rick’s is Tuesdays and Thursdays for burger madness, when the giant burgers and fries go for $3.99.
