Tandoori Nights Description:
Hard to find fault with this Gaithersburg restaurant, except for noting that it has only one metro DC location. Clone yourself, we want to say, and be accessible to everyone. After several meals, we find the food consistently spirited and beautifully seasoned, some of the best in the area---maybe even the best. The décor takes on the look of modern India, with muted colors, wild patterns, and a mural inspired by an Indian love poem. Some patrons may come to gawk, but chances are those in the know come to eat, and eat lots! There's an appetizer platter with its assortment of pakoras, one samosa, chicken tikka and mini ground-meat (or seekh) kabobs and three different chutneys. Wow, we said about the lamb vindaloo, so often mismanaged but here, stunning, and about the chicken tikka and chicken vindaloo. And wow, to find a restaurant that tackles such complex Indian meats as the Sikandari lamb---a grilled marinated leg of lamb---or baby goat meat cooked in the North Indian style. And the breads! Simply divine. We yearned for more time and appetite to do this menu justice, and vow to make frequent trips.
