Guy's Food Store Description:
Don't bother asking who the "Guy" is behind the Guy's Po-Boys name. The important thing to know is that proprietor Marvin Matherne is the one behind the counter and over the griddle, making some of the best po' boys in Uptown. Sandwich fillings such as grilled shrimp (tossed around on the griddle with Cajun-Creole spices), fried potato with gravy, and fried catfish are among the favorites here, while ham po' boys come cold or grilled and are both first-rate. Always check out the specials board, and if Matherne cooked up a pot of white beans that morning, look no further. The place is kept hopping by a cadre of regulars.
